In a highly variable manufacturing system, efficiency can come down to making the right decisions.

Using digital twins, we can predict different potential outcomes and optimise for the best results. We

show the practical application of this concept by optimising one of the largest bottlenecks at Sequal,

a mass customised sawmill.

This presentations details aspects around the feasibility of growing dedicated softwood pulpwood

forests. To be economically viable these forests must be able to supply sufficient mass of “cheap”

wood with the desired fibre and chemical properties. Data for a broad range of 7-year-old RPBC high

growth families/clones will be presented, these were studied to determine their suitability for

pulping.
