Journal of Forestry Vol 57 No. 4 | The February 2013 issue of the New Zealand Journal of Forestry (Volume 57, number 4) contains the theme paper Sustainable land use initiatives by Horizons. This is supported by a professional paper that assesses New Zealands forest codes of practices for erosion and sediment control. Timber is compared with steel and concrete in an article on lifecycle assessment and carbon footprint of tall buildings that also proposes a calculation method for inclusion in green building rating schemes. Papers on internal checking of radiata pine, on visualising information and on promising radiata hybrids complete the list. The issue contains thought provoking editorials and opinions from Murray Parrish, Andrew McEwen, Hamish Levack and Chris Perley, the last quoting Yeats that mere anarchy is loosed upon the world evidenced by the loss of the Napier to Gisborne rail link.
